Why Christians Do Fail In Business?

My dear friends,

It is a timeless nugget of wisdom that people perish for lack of knowledge and where the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable.

It has been my observation that many of us in the Christian family have been lagging behind in the areas of business. We are constantly being blessed with wonderful sermons and teachings reminding us that we are created to be the head and not the tail. Our Pastors often tell us that we are created to be Fruitful, Multiply, Replenish and Rule the earth. We are told that our father is the owner of cattle on a thousand hills. Most books on financial provisions for the Believer assure us that God has promised to bless the work of our hands. However, there are very few books on the specifics of doing this.

While it is obvious that the only way God will prosper the work of your hand is when you have ‘work’ in your hands, there is a dearth of literature on the subject on finding ‘work’ for our hands. Also, while the only practical way you can become the head and not the tail is to own your own business, Christian literature is not as rich in books on how Christians can actually go about starting a business that will allow them to fulfill their mandate to dominate and rule.

It does not take a rocket scientist to know that the only way you are going to ‘lend to nations’ is to own your own bank or business with enough money that nations could borrow. Yet, you can hardly find enough books on how a Christian can start a bank from scratch using the Word of God. While there are many books by Christian authors on managing your business, and running your business effectively using biblical principles, there are very few books on how to actually start one. In other words, there are books, resources and networks to assist you to succed in business as a Christian but the Christian who is contemplating starting a New business from Zero is likely going to get frustrated if he is looking to Christian literature or sermons on the step by step way of doing it.

I believe the time has come for more Christian writers and teachers to devote more time for the practical logistics of starting a new business and on issues that an intending or aspiring Christian Entrepreneur (I call it this breed of Christians the ‘KingdomPreneurs’) must know before embarking on the business venture that his Kingdom assignment calls for.

The Business Jungle is literally littered with bodies of Christians who started a new business in excitement after listening to a particularly good sermon on prosperity and the imperatives of the kingdom mandate. A lot of Christians are still living with the disappointment of a failed business that they started on a spiritual high or ‘emotional faith’, without knowing the crucial facts that every successful entrepreneur must master before venturing out into the business jungle.

The Kingdom Person must realize that you cannot just start a business with prayer and fasting and faith alone. Peter assured us that ‘Faith without works’ is a dead faith. There is no amount of claiming and ‘naming’ that will replace due diligence and use of the intellect that God has graciously endowed us with.

I recently wrote a book on "THE 7 PILLARS OF A SUCCESFUL CHRISTIAN BUSINESS" to address the 7 things every Christian business person must know and master if they ever hope to succed in business (You can order this great ebook at http://sevenpillarsofchristianbusiness.com/. This book is intended to direct the intending Kingdompreneur to the seven most crucial things he must know before hanging his sign on a door as a business person. This Book will teach you how to put first things first in your quest for achieving your God ordered dominion through enterprise.

Check back on this blog tomorow as I begin to post some interesting exerpts from this great book. until then, keep up the faith by doing it!

Most Sincerely
OPe Banwo
