Contrary to what we may have been told, Home Business Champions are not born. They are made! I am convinced that every one of us can be a champion in our lives and in any area of endeavor we choose if only we are willing to study and apply the power keys for achieving greatness. The power keys of champions are not hidden. They are in plain sight. The keys for becoming a true home business champion, or indeed a champion in anything, are not in any secret books controlled by some faceless power brokers. They are available in the bible and they work if applied. They have been applied by people who aspire to be champions for thousands of years. The Bible spelt them out. You can definitely be a champion regardless of how you see yourself right now.

Now, if you really want to go higher than you are right now, or if you are tired of not going anywhere, then join me as we discover and discuss how to apply these keys over the next few weeks. Your comments and feedback will be highly appreciated

KEY #1: DEVELOP THE ATTITUDE AND MENTALITY OF A CHAMPION
You must understand that grasshoppers do not eat grapes. According to proverbs, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”. No teachings, directions or instructions you receive can ever make you a home business champion if you do not first win the battle in your mind and develop the mindset of a champion. The lion was not the biggest animal in the jungle, yet he is the champion of animal kingdom. The Lion is not the strongest animal in the jungle, yet he is the acknowledged champion. The lion is not even the smartest animal in the animal kingdom, yet he is the undisputed champion of all forest animals. Why? The single difference between the lion and the rest is the attitude and mentality. The lion has the mindset and mentality of a champion and a conqueror. It believes every other animal is destined to be food for its lunch or dinner. He fears no one and is feared by all, even by those who are much bigger, stronger, smarter. The lion displayed the mentality of a champion for so long that over time he became the champion by default. Now, every animal has an in-born instinct to fear it and cower before the lion having to do anything . When they see the lion, they don’t remember their own strength, size or cunning. All they see is themselves been torn to pieces by the almighty lion. The illusion became the reality for the rest of the animal world.

Know this for a fact: YOU HAVE TO DEVELOP AND EXHIBIT THE MENTALITY OF A CHAMPION BEFORE YOU CAN BECOME ONE IN THE HOME BUSINESS INDUSTRY. People respond and react to your mentality and over time they learn to respect and submit to it.

Goliath held the whole army of Israel in suspended terror for 30 days by talking and strutting like a champion. The soldiers of Israel cowered before him without him having actually beaten anybody in battle. He maintained his champion status until a little boy named David with a stronger mentality of a champion stepped into the ring. Though David must have looked like a midget compared to Goliath, he had the attitude and mentality of a champion. He believed he had all he needed to win (God on his side). He called Goliath a dog and went into battle with mere stones with full confidence of eventual victory. THE VICTORY MUST START IN THE MIND. THE BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY MUST BE WON IN THE MIND BEFORE IT CAN BE DEMONSTRATED ON THE BATTLEFIED. This is the first and most important power key of champions.

In Numbers 13, we also saw that the basic difference between the 10 spies and Joshua/Caleb was in the mentality of the two groups of spies. There was never any dispute that they saw the same thing. The majority did not lie about what they physically saw (i.e fortified strongholds, giants, etc) and the minority (Joshua and Calbe) never really disputed the physical evidence. The difference was in how their minds interpreted the implications of those facts. The majority had the mind and mentality of losers (“we were like grasshoppers in their sight” they cried.). They chose to see themselves as losers and conceded victory to their enemies even before battle (they were sure “the land devours its inhabitants” though they saw people still living there). On the other hand Joshua and Caleb had the mentality of champions. They believed that regardless of what they had seen with their eyes, they can still take the land. They were sure if the Lord is with them, they will capture the land. They understood and believed the promises of god concerning them as overcomers. They focused on the grapes rather than the giants. They focused on the possibilties rather than the problems. They chose to contrate on the promises of grapes and milk and honey rather than contemplate the strong defences and giants in the land. T

That is what all champions do.

They realized that grasshoppers do not eat grapes.

They knew that though God had given them the land, they still had to take possession of it.

Mohammed Ali was by no means the strongest or smartest boxer in the world in his time. However, he had what no other boxer of his era had. He had the mentality of a champion. He believed in his mind that he was destined to rule the world. He believed he could never lose to another fighter regardless of their records. He was convinced in his mind that every other boxer will fall at the round he predicted. He talked about it to anybody who cared to listen. He called himself the champion of the world when he had not yet become the champion of his state. As he continued to display that mentality in his thoughts, words and deeds, the whole world eventually succumbed to his version of reality and he reigned as the champion of the world. The other boxers come into the ring with Mohammed Ali, focusing on not falling in the round he had predicted but already convinced in their mind they would lose anyhow. Even after he lost his title and retired, people still referred to Mohammed Ali as the only true world champion. As you go about your business today, ask yourself, "what is my mentality to life".

Do you see yourself as a victim or a victor? Do you think about all the stuff stacked against you or do you see opportunities for making a difference? Have you consciously or unconsciously accepted that this is as good as it is going to get for you in your career, marriage or business or do you believe that where you are now is just a temporary stepping stone on your way to greatness? Do you see yourself as leading or you are resigned to being led? Do an honest survey of how you really view yourself and your life. Remember, you cannot become a champion until you see yourself and think of yourself as one. As a man thinketh in his heart, so he becomes!!

....To be continued
